You May Now Kill The Bride's Ending Explained (Will A Sequel Happen?)
Lifetime's You May Now Kill The Bride might be silly but it's also a lot of fun. Here's the film's ending and the likelihood of a sequel explained.
What happened at the end of You May Now Kill The Bride and will the TV movie get a sequel? Made-for-TV movies usually don't have the best reputation but for those willing to embrace their ridiculous plots, low budgets and general campiness they can be a lot of fun. There's no better place to head for trashy but fun made-for-TV movies than the Lifetime channel which has been churning them out for over 30 years.
Case in point: Lifetime's 2016 thriller You May Now Kill The Bride. The movie follows newly engaged couple Nicole (Ashley Newbrough, Privileged) and Mark (Rocky Myers, Sons Of Thunder) as they rush to plan their wedding in three weeks when they find out the bride-to-be's dream venue is soon to close its doors. Planning a wedding in such a short space of time is a stressful task, so Nicole is more than happy to accept the help of Mark's friendly stepsister Audrey (Tammin Sursok, Pretty Little Liars). However, this is the realm of ridiculous Lifetime movies, so there's more to the seemingly nice Audrey than meets the eye.
You May Now Kill The Bride soon reveals Audrey loves her stepbrother Mark – in a romantic rather than familial way – and will stop at nothing to prevent him finding love with anyone else. Apparently, Audrey has sabotaged most of Mark's previous relationships and put a stop to his last wedding by killing his bride-to-be. Audrey soon sets about sabotaging Mark and Nicole's upcoming nuptials in any way she can – from changing Nicole's wedding dress alterations so her gown doesn't fit to putting her maid of honor Celine (Aubrey Reynolds, Legends Of Tomorrow) in a coma when she gets suspicious. There's even a scene where Audrey rocks up to Mark's bachelor party disguised as a stripper (with just a wig and eye mask to conceal her identity) and gyrates all over him. As the Lifetime movie nears its end, Celine awakens from her coma and exposes Audrey's obsession with Mark. When Nicole tries to tell Mark his stepsister is a psychopath, he doesn't believe her at first but is soon convinced when Aubrey almost attacks Nicole with a knife. Aubrey is subsequently sent to a psychiatric hospital and Mark and Nicole go ahead with their wedding, but an Aubrey-shaped wrench is thrown in the works.

In the final scenes of You May Now Kill The Bride, it's the day of the wedding and Nicole is getting ready when she's accosted by Aubrey who knocks her unconscious and tries to drown her in a bathtub. Aubrey attempts to take the bride-to-be's place at the altar but a disturbed Mark rushes to save Nicole who subsequently disarms his stepsister. The movie ends with the finally wedded Mark and Nicole visiting a re-admitted Aubrey in a mental asylum where she's seemingly doing well. However, the end of the film sees Aubrey ripping up a wedding picture the newlyweds gave her, suggesting she's just as obsessed with Mark as she was before.
You May Now Kill The Bride falls firmly into that so-bad-it's-almost good category of Lifetime movies and the end of the film certainly left things open for Aubrey to return to wreak more havoc in the future. However, it's fairly uncommon to see even a popular Lifetime movie get a sequel so it's pretty unlikely that there'll be a follow-up to You May Now Kill The Bride anytime soon.
